The Essex County College Business Division will present its 2nd annual Financial Literacy Conference on Tuesday, April 5, from 10 am to 7 pm at the main Newark campus. This year’s theme is “Get in the Financial Success Lane.”

Throughout the day, a Financial Fair will be held with information available from banks, insurance companies, real estate companies, financial services companies and textbook publishers. A series of workshops are also scheduled throughout the conference. These include Financial Planning at 10 am; Keynote at 11:30 am; Budget and Credit at 1 pm; Investments at 2:30 pm; Insurance at 3:50 pm; Teachers Workshop at 4 pm, and Small Business Financing at 5:15 pm
The conference’s keynote speakers include:
- Mark Grebenau, educational and speaking consultant,
- Pamela Capalad, financial planner, and
- Luis Uranga, deputy chief of staff to the president of the New York Federal Reserve Bank.
A stock market competition will also be a part of the conference.
Business Professor Jean-Wilner Alexandre said the conference is part of National Financial Literary Month. He added the College supports the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and the Consumer Protection Act to promote financial education.
